Freestyle Skiing Star Yuliya Galysheva Concludes Olympic Career
Kazakhstan's celebrated freestyle skier, Yuliya Galysheva, a bronze medalist at the 2018 Winter Olympics, has officially concluded her Olympic journey. The accomplished athlete announced her retirement from Olympic competition following her participation in the 2026 Winter Games in Italy.
A Career Defined by Dedication and Dreams
Galysheva competed in the parallel moguls event at the 2026 Olympics, representing Kazakhstan. Despite her best efforts, she was eliminated in the 1/8 finals after facing Hikaru Tomitake, the silver medalist at the World Championships. This marked the end of her Olympic aspirations.
Reflections on Achievements and Unfulfilled Ambitions
Looking back at her career, Galysheva expressed satisfaction with her accomplishments, noting that she has achieved most major accolades. The only significant title missing from her collection is the overall World Cup victory. "I have everything, except for the overall cup. Despite this, I am happy with this result," she stated.
She particularly values her Olympic medal, emphasizing its significance. "Yes, it's not gold or silver, but bronze, but for me, it's equal to gold. Winning bronze in individual moguls is a huge achievement," Galysheva admitted.
The Italian Olympics: A Final Curtain Call
Galysheva confirmed that the Olympics in Italy would be her last. However, she does not plan to end her competitive season just yet, as she feels she is still performing strongly. Although the team missed a World Cup stage in Japan, Galysheva intends to participate in the competition in Azerbaijan.
