Kazakhstan-born comedian Nurlan Saburov is now the subject of a criminal investigation in Ukraine. The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has initiated proceedings against the popular entertainer, according to Ukrainian lawyer Yevhen Pronin.

The investigation centers on allegations that Saburov provided assistance to Russian military forces. Pronin stated that the case has been entered into the unified register of pre-trial investigations under the article concerning aiding an aggressor state.

Lawyer Pronin explained that the inquiry aims to verify information suggesting the comedian prepared and supplied material resources to Russia's armed formations. These alleged facts are expected to be determined as part of the official investigation.

The Video That Sparked the Probe

The catalyst for this investigation appears to be a video that circulated online. This footage reportedly shows the Kazakh comedian handing over motorcycles to fighters from the Wagner Group, who are engaged in combat in Ukraine on the Russian side.

Background Context

This development follows previous restrictions placed on Saburov, including a five-year ban on entering Russia. Reports had also emerged about the potential relocation of filming for the show "What's Next?" to Kazakhstan after the comedian's deportation.

Subsequently, the video alleging Saburov's donation of 10 motorcycles to the Wagner Group, fighting for Russia, gained traction, leading to calls for his criminal prosecution.
