Man Douses Apartment Door with Gasoline in Pavlodar Building

A terrifying incident unfolded in a Pavlodar apartment building when a man was caught on camera dousing an apartment door and the surrounding stairwell with gasoline. The act, which occurred early on May 31st, has left residents shaken and fearful for their safety.

The Incident Unfolds

Surveillance footage captured the hooded man ascending to an upper floor of the building carrying a canister. Minutes later, he was seen pouring flammable liquid over an apartment door, the landing, and the staircases. When a resident attempted to intervene, the unknown man sprayed them with the liquid before fleeing down the stairs.

The man later returned to the floor without the canister and entered the vestibule of the gasoline-soaked apartment. However, a neighbor from the opposite apartment noticed his actions, prompting the man to quickly exit the building.

Residents' Fears

According to residents, the incident took place around 7 AM on May 31st. "Many people on the building's roof complained about the smell of gasoline and started asking who had poured it and what had happened. Then we reviewed the camera footage and saw a man with a canister coming to the apartment on the eighth floor," neighbors reported.

Residents also mentioned that the apartment in question is frequently visited by unknown individuals who organize parties and even engage in fights. "Perhaps they couldn't agree on something this time, we don't know. It all happened at dawn, while the whole entrance was asleep. I live on the ninth floor with my family. If a fire had started, we wouldn't have been able to get out of the entrance because the stairs for the entire floor were doused in gasoline. We wouldn't have escaped. So many people could have suffered," one resident expressed.

Police Response

After reviewing the camera footage, residents contacted the police. "The identity of the hooligan has been established. Measures are being taken to apprehend him," stated the Pavlodar Regional Police Department. The police also confirmed that an administrative case for petty hooliganism has been initiated against the man, and the materials have been sent to court.
