A shocking incident of domestic violence has come to light in Karaganda, where a 19-year-old woman, identified as Riza, is recovering after a brutal attack by her former husband. The assault left her with severe internal injuries, necessitating emergency surgery.

A History of Abuse

The victim and her ex-husband reportedly met at a gym when she was just 16 years old, and he was 32. According to Riza, their first sexual encounter was non-consensual, leading to an unwanted pregnancy at 17. This resulted in her being forced into marriage, a situation her parents were unaware of at the time.

Escalating Violence

Following their marriage, conflicts became frequent, and the abuse escalated into a pattern of regular violence. Riza alleges that her husband not only physically assaulted her but also burned her, threatened her, and forced her to participate in various videos.

"After every argument, he would punish me in different ways. Once, he took me outside, hit me with an iron pipe, and poured boiling water over me," the report states.

Critical Injury and Surgery

Although the man later initiated divorce proceedings, Riza continued to live with him for the sake of their child's future. However, a severe altercation in April led to her sustaining critical injuries. Doctors were forced to perform an emergency operation to remove her spleen to save her life.

Police Action

The Karaganda Regional Police Department has confirmed the incident. On April 11, the injured 19-year-old resident sought medical attention. A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident, and the suspect has been apprehended and placed in a temporary detention facility.

The victim has since been placed in a crisis center for support and safety.
