Nearly 10 years after construction، Aktau has finally started comprehensive improvement of the 16th microdistrict. For years، residents suffered from a lack of basic amenities: sidewalks، roads، and utility networks، reports the website infohub.kz.
The 16th microdistrict began developing rapidly in the early 2010s as one of the city's new residential zones. Dozens of apartment buildings were erected over several years، but housing construction was not accompanied by the creation of necessary infrastructure. After new residential complexes were commissioned، the surrounding areas remained undeveloped: there were no sidewalks، and internal roads lacked asphalt pavement. In rainy weather، the streets turned into muddy off-road terrain، and in summer، residents suffocated from dust.
According to local residents، the unfinished improvement seriously complicated daily life. The Aktau city administration assured that، as of today، 4،300 meters of water supply networks، 3،067 meters of sewer networks، and 2،570 meters of heating networks have been renewed in the microdistrict. About 4،000 meters of asphalt concrete pavement have been laid. Construction of internal roads and pedestrian sidewalks continues. In the coming days، authorities promise to restore damaged road sections، install road signs، and apply road markings.
In addition، a complete renovation of the sewer collector is underway from the Baiterek shopping center in the 27th microdistrict to the intersection with the 16th، 17th، 18A، and 19th microdistricts.
Complaints from residents of the 16th microdistrict about the lack of basic conditions have been received annually. For instance، in 2018، residents of the Zhenis residential complex complained about heating problems. In 2021، people protested the absence of gas in building No. 61. In 2023، the issue of a shortage of waste containers، piles of garbage، and poor road conditions was raised. In 2024، authorities promised that road and utility network construction would begin in the third quarter. As it turned out، the improvement work is only being carried out now.
