Kazakhstan Braces for Fog, Frost, and Storms: 14 Regions Under Alert
Kazakhstan is set to experience a day of volatile weather on April 20, with forecasters issuing storm warnings for 14 regions. Residents can expect a mix of fog, thunderstorms, and even spring frost in some areas, prompting a nationwide alert.
Widespread Storm Warnings Issued
The national weather service, Kazhydromet, has placed 14 regions on storm alert due to anticipated adverse weather conditions. This includes areas from the western plains to the eastern mountains, signaling a significant weather event across a large portion of the country.
Southern Regions Face Frost and Fog
In the southern parts of Kazakhstan, including the Almaty and Turkistan regions, nighttime and early morning hours are expected to bring fog. Temperatures in these areas could dip to as low as 2 degrees Celsius below freezing, particularly in northern and mountainous zones. Cities like Korday and Jezkazgan will also experience morning fog.
Thunderstorms and Strong Winds Expected
Several western and central regions, such as Aktobe, Atyrau, and West Kazakhstan, are bracing for thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rain. Strong winds are also a concern, with gusts predicted to reach speeds of 15-20 m/s in many areas, including Aktobe, Atyrau, and Oral. Dust storms are also forecast for parts of the Mangystau and Kyzylorda regions, with wind speeds expected to be significant.
Fire Risks in Specific Areas
Adding to the weather concerns, high fire risks are present in the western parts of the Zhambyl and Turkistan regions, as well as in the southern and eastern areas of the Zhetysu region. Residents in these areas are advised to exercise extreme caution.
