99 Teen Girls Pregnant in Aktobe Region: Doctors Reveal Key Concerns
In a stark revelation from the Aktobe region، 99 teenage girls became pregnant in 2025. The majority of these young women are between 17 and 18 years old، but the figures also include younger school students، raising significant concerns among health professionals.
Delayed Detection Poses Risks
Doctors point out that families often discover these pregnancies late. This delay is attributed to the physical changes in adolescent bodies، which can mask early signs. Symptoms like nausea are frequently mistaken for common stomach ailments، leading girls to seek medical help only around the 20-21 week mark of their pregnancy.
High Success Rate in Deliveries، But Challenges Remain
Despite the challenges، pediatric gynecologist Saltanat Tubylbaeva notes that approximately 98% of teenage pregnancies result in live births. However، in some instances، pregnancy termination is necessary due to social or medical reasons. Terminations are generally not permitted after 21 weeks of gestation.
Specialized Care for Young Mothers
Each case of teenage pregnancy is reviewed by a special commission comprising obstetricians، geneticists، psychologists، and other specialists. Given the significant physical toll pregnancy takes on adolescent bodies، these young women are placed under strict medical supervision. This ensures they receive the necessary care throughout their pregnancy and delivery.
Family Support is Crucial
A significant majority، around 97-98%، of pregnant teenagers choose to raise their children. Reports indicate that only one young mother recently utilized the 'Umit' (Hope) center for temporary accommodation، with most children being raised within their families. In some heartwarming instances، grandmothers have taken extended leave to care for newborns، enabling the young mothers to continue their education.
Urban Centers See Higher Incidence
The majority of these teenage pregnancies are concentrated in the city of Aktobe، with many of the affected girls being college students. Such cases are reportedly less common in rural districts. The youngest recorded pregnant teen last year was 14 years old، while 17-year-olds are often married.
Addressing Vulnerability and Abuse
While most pregnancies occur through consensual relationships، Saltanat Tubylbaeva sadly confirms that some cases stem from sexual violence. Disturbingly، perpetrators are often close relatives، including stepfathers، brothers، uncles، or even fathers. These incidents frequently occur within the home، with victims often remaining silent due to fear or a misplaced sense of trust، particularly in families experiencing domestic violence.
