Aknar Case Reopened: Investigation Returns to Ministry of Internal Affairs

A significant development has occurred in the investigation into the death of Aknar، a case that has deeply concerned the public in Kazakhstan. The criminal case، previously under the purview of the Anti-Corruption Agency، has now been returned to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Reasons for Reopening the Case

Sanzhar Adilov، Vice Minister of Internal Affairs، addressed journalists، explaining the prolonged nature of the investigation. He stated that the case was not initially within the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The investigation materials were transferred to the Anti-Corruption Agency by a decision of the General Prosecutor's Office.

"We did not make this decision؛ it was a decision of the General Prosecutor's Office. Now، the criminal case has been transferred back to us for review. A new investigative team has been formed for the case، and investigative work has resumed. Furthermore، all arguments from the victim's side will be fully heard،" said Sanzhar Adilov.

Investigation Ongoing for Over a Year and a Half

The criminal case related to Aknar's death has been under investigation for approximately eighteen months. This situation generated considerable public outcry، with demands for a fair and thorough investigation.
