Astana residents will soon have clarity on the cost of using the city's Light Rail Transit (LRT) system، as fare prices and baggage transport fees have been officially set. The proposed fares cover both cash and cashless payment methods. Importantly، specific categories of citizens will be eligible for discounted travel. Residents registered and permanently living in Astana will be able to utilize a special transport card for free rides on the city's LRT routes، offering a significant benefit to locals.

Public Discussion and Implementation

The draft resolution is currently open for public discussion، with feedback being accepted until March 27. Following this period، the established tariffs are expected to come into effect. This process allows for community input before the new pricing structure is finalized.

Background on Fare Increases

The decision to set LRT fares follows earlier announcements regarding potential cost adjustments. In December 2024، the city's mayor indicated plans to increase the cost of LRT travel. At that time، a financial and technical justification had been prepared، suggesting a fare price around 200 tenge per ride.
