Earthquake Near Almaty: Tremors Felt in Kyrgyzstan
An earthquake was registered today، May 24th، approximately 300 kilometers from Almaty. The epicenter of the seismic event was located within Kyrgyzstan's territory.
Epicenter Location and Intensity
According to the Institute of Seismology of the National Academy of Sciences of Kyrgyzstan، underground tremors were recorded at 9:50 AM local time. The epicenter was situated 13 kilometers northeast of the village of Baibiche and 95 kilometers southeast of the city of Manas in Kyrgyzstan. This location is approximately 300-350 kilometers from Almaty.
The intensity of the earthquake reached 2 points in the villages of Baibiche and Kara-Debe. There have been no reports of the earthquake being felt within Kazakhstan.
Recent Seismic Activity
This event follows other recent seismic activity in the region. Previously، Kazakhstani seismologists had registered two earthquakes with magnitudes of 4.8 and 4.5 in the border area between Kyrgyzstan and China. Additionally، an earthquake was recorded in Uzbekistan on the night of May 20th.
