Officials from the Ministry of Emergency Situations in Kyrgyzstan have confirmed the escape. However، they clarified that Azhiev himself did not pilot the helicopter. Instead، the aircraft was reportedly rented by another individual. The cost of this unusual escape vehicle is estimated to be around 268،000 Kyrgyz soms، which translates to over 1.5 million Kazakh tenge.

Authorities stated that the helicopter did not land within the prison grounds but rather on an adjacent field، facilitating the swift departure.

Viral Video Surfaces

The escape gained wider attention following the circulation of a video on social media platforms. The footage appears to show a helicopter flying away from the vicinity of the prison، fueling speculation and concern about the security breach.

Early Release and Presidential Pardon

Interestingly، Daniel Azhiev had been granted early release just this past February. According to his family members، this early release was made possible through a presidential pardon issued by the Kyrgyz authorities.

Previous Conviction and Sentence

The publication reports that Azhiev was convicted in the autumn of 2024. He was sentenced to nine years in prison، with his assets confiscated and a fine imposed. His conviction stemmed from charges related to organizing prostitution، distributing pornography، and causing property damage. Additionally، he was prohibited from engaging in entrepreneurial activities for a period of two years.
