In a video address released on Sunday، Prime Minister Netanyahu stated، "I have instructed the Israel Defense Forces to expand the maneuvers in Lebanon. Our forces have crossed the Litani River and seized strategic areas. They have taken control of the Beaufort Ridge. My instruction now is to deepen and expand the control in the areas controlled by Hezbollah." This directive signifies a significant intensification of Israel's military engagement in the region.

France Calls for UN Security Council Meeting

Responding to Israel's expanded operations، France's Minister of Foreign Affairs، Jean-Noël Barrot، announced that France had requested an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council. The agency reported، citing Al Jazeera، that an extraordinary session of the Security Council on Lebanon would take place on June 1st. Capture of Beaufort Stronghold

Earlier، Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced that the IDF had captured the medieval Beaufort stronghold in southern Lebanon. This strategic fortress was also under Israeli control during the conflict from 1982 to 2000. Netanyahu described the capture of the Beaufort stronghold as a "dramatic turn" in the campaign against Hezbollah، underscoring its military significance.
