Kazakh MP Says Salary Insufficient، Asks Wife to Work

Member of Parliament Bakytzhan Bazarbek has stated that his current salary is insufficient to cover his family's expenses، even revealing he has asked his wife to continue working to supplement their income.

During a press briefing، journalists inquired about the adequacy of parliamentary salaries. Bazarbek responded candidly، questioning the sufficiency of incomes ranging from 500،000 to 800،000 tenge، particularly for those with large families.

Family Expenses Strain Budgets

Bazarbek highlighted that a significant portion of his income is allocated to daily living costs، including childcare and extracurricular activities for his children. He noted that expenses for kindergarten، sports clubs، and clothing alone can amount to approximately 300،000 tenge.

Considering the rising cost of groceries، the MP suggested that even a million tenge might not be enough to comfortably manage household finances.

Personal Financial Situation

The deputy disclosed that his own monthly salary is around 900،000 tenge. "It's not enough for me personally،" he admitted. "That's why I asked my wife to work too، and that solved everything." This personal revelation comes after Kazakhstani MPs publicly disclosed their income and their spouses' financial declarations.
