Kazakhstan Builds Mega-Farm for 50،000 Cattle، Boosting Agri-Industry

Kazakhstan is on the cusp of launching one of the most significant agricultural projects in its history with the near-completion of a colossal cattle-fattening complex in the Turkestan region. Designed to accommodate up to 50،000 head of cattle simultaneously، this facility represents a major leap forward for the nation's agro-industrial sector.

State-of-the-Art European and Australian Technology

The construction incorporates advanced European and Australian equipment، signaling a commitment to modernizing livestock management. The facility is designed to not only supply the domestic market but also to significantly boost exports to neighboring countries and beyond.

Phased Development and Investment

The project، spearheaded by 'Turkestan Agro.kz' LLP، has seen substantial investment. The initial phase focused on developing the fattening grounds، requiring 2.9 billion tenge. An additional 1.5 billion tenge was allocated for irrigation systems under preferential financing. The second phase has attracted further state support، reaching 5.9 billion tenge، alongside private capital. Already، 30،000 high-yield cattle have been acquired، with plans to gradually scale up to the full capacity of 50،000 head.

Job Creation and Economic Impact

The complex is already a significant employer، creating over 30 jobs. Upon reaching full operational capacity، this number is projected to increase to 100، contributing to local economic development.

Australian-Standard Production Processes

The operational model is based on Australian 'line' technology، optimizing animal placement to minimize stress and enhance productivity. Key processes، including feeding، handling، and veterinary care، are automated and adhere to international biosecurity standards.

Feed Production and Sustainability

To support the massive herd، 4،710 hectares have been dedicated to feed production، equipped with modern sprinkler irrigation systems. The facility produces up to 500 tons of feed daily، with a compound feed plant capable of producing 20 tons per hour. Future plans include building a larger plant with a capacity of 1 million tons of feed annually.

Export Ambitions and Future Expansion

According to project investor Syrym Yertayev، the farm's products are already being supplied to the domestic market and exported to Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. The company aims to expand its export reach to Turkey and other markets in the medium term، enhancing foreign currency earnings.

Looking ahead، the next phase involves constructing a meat processing complex capable of slaughtering 1،500 head of cattle and 5،000 small ruminants per shift. This expansion will focus on deep processing، producing a wider range of high-value products for both domestic consumption and export to China and Turkey.

The full commissioning of the complex is scheduled for July 2026.
