Kazakhstan's National Security Committee (KNB) has successfully halted the operations of a criminal group involved in the illicit collection and online sale of citizens' personal data. This operation، coordinated by the prosecutor's office، took place in March across the cities of Astana and Almaty.

Data Buyers Included Financial Firms

The investigation revealed that the organized group illegally obtained and then trafficked personal information through the internet. Among their clients were representatives from certain microfinance organizations (MFOs) and collection agencies، as well as private individuals.

Criminal Case Underway

Pre-trial investigations are currently being conducted under three articles of the Criminal Code. During searches، authorities seized computer equipment، electronic storage devices، significant amounts of cash، and other material evidence related to the illegal activities.

This action highlights the ongoing efforts to protect citizens' private information from unauthorized access and distribution within Kazakhstan.
