Residents in several major Kazakh cities are being advised of a potential decline in air quality. The national meteorological service، Kazhydromet، has issued a warning about unfavorable weather conditions expected to contribute to the buildup of pollutants.

Cities Under Alert

On June 7th، unfavorable meteorological conditions are anticipated in Astana، Karaganda، Zhezkazgan، Balkhash، Temirtau، and Taldykorgan. Additionally، the night hours in Almaty، Aktobe، and Atyrau are expected to experience similar conditions.

Understanding Unfavorable Weather

These conditions typically arise from a combination of factors such as weak winds، fog، or temperature inversions. Such atmospheric patterns can trap pollutants near the ground، leading to a noticeable decrease in air quality.

Regional Forecasts

In Astana، residents can expect cloudy skies with no precipitation. Winds will be south-westerly at 5-10 m/s. Nighttime temperatures are forecast between 14-16°C، with daytime highs reaching 28-30°C.

Almaty may experience light rain and thunderstorms during the day. Winds will blow from the southeast at 3-8 m/s. Overnight temperatures are expected to be 16-18°C، and daytime temperatures will range from 26-28°C.

Aktobe could see rain and thunderstorms in the latter half of the day، with fog possible in the morning and evening. South to south-easterly winds are predicted. Night temperatures will be around 13-15°C، with daytime highs of 23-25°C.

Atyrau is forecast to have rain and thunderstorms in the morning and afternoon. South-westerly winds will shift to the north-west. Nighttime temperatures are expected to be 16-18°C، and daytime temperatures will reach 23-25°C.

Zhezkazgan will likely remain dry. North-easterly winds will shift to the south-west. Night temperatures are predicted to be 16-18°C، with daytime highs of 30-32°C.

Karaganda might experience light rain in the afternoon. North-westerly to northerly winds will blow. Night temperatures are expected to be 14-16°C، with daytime highs of 28-30°C. The eastern and southern parts of the Karaganda region could see light rain and thunderstorms overnight، and rain with thunderstorms during the day.

Taldykorgan is not expected to have precipitation. North-westerly winds will be present. Nighttime temperatures are forecast between 13-15°C، with daytime highs of 29-31°C.
