Kazakhstan President Orders Enhanced Security for Critical Infrastructure

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has issued an urgent directive to bolster the security of strategically vital facilities within Kazakhstan. This move underscores the government's commitment to safeguarding national interests and ensuring public safety.

Comprehensive Security Overhaul

The President's directive mandates that key officials، including the Prime Minister، heads of security agencies، the leadership of the Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund، national company executives، and regional governors، must take direct control of security protocols. This applies to all life-sustaining facilities، encompassing critical transport، energy، and utility infrastructure، as well as airports and ports.

Coordinated National Effort

The responsibility for coordinating these enhanced security measures has been assigned to the Secretary of the Security Council. This centralized approach aims to ensure a unified and effective response to potential threats.

Context of the Directive

This recent directive follows a previous instruction given by President Tokayev on February 28th. At that time، he ordered the development of urgent measures to prevent any potential destabilization within the country، prompted by escalating tensions in Iran. In response to that earlier call، all سيلوۆىە ۆەدومستۆا (security agencies) were placed on a 24/7 operational status، and a special monitoring group was established under the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
