Kazakhstan is bracing for a significant weather shift on April 24، as the national weather service، Kazhydromet، has issued a storm warning for 16 regions and the city of Almaty. Residents can expect a day of volatile weather، including thunderstorms، heavy rain، hail، and strong winds.

Almaty Faces Icy Roads and Thunderstorms

The city of Almaty is particularly vulnerable، with forecasts predicting rain and thunderstorms. The precipitation is expected to intensify overnight، with a possibility of snow. Winds will shift from the southwest to the northwest، reaching speeds of up to 15 meters per second. Mountainous areas surrounding Almaty are warned of thunderstorms، hail، and gale-force winds.

Widespread Adverse Weather Across Other Regions

The adverse weather is not confined to Almaty. Several other regions are also under alert:

• Akmola Region: Fog is expected in the western، northern، and central parts overnight and in the morning. Temperatures could drop to -2 degrees Celsius in the southern and eastern areas overnight.
• Karaganda Region: Rain and thunderstorms are forecast for the east overnight and the south during the day. Fog will also be present in western، northern، and eastern districts.
• Ulytau Region: Thunderstorms and rain are expected in the southern parts during the day، with fog anticipated in the north، east، and center overnight and in the morning.
• Pavlodar Region: Fog is predicted for the western and southern areas overnight. The northern region may experience frost، with temperatures as low as -2 degrees Celsius.
• Mangystau Region: Rain and thunderstorms are forecasted for the northeast during the day، with fog expected in the west and central parts.
• Almaty Region: Heavy rain is anticipated in the southern areas overnight. Mountainous zones could see snow، thunderstorms، and strong winds.
• North Kazakhstan Region: Rain and thunderstorms are expected in the western، northern، and eastern parts during the day. Fog is forecast for the west overnight and in the morning.
• Aktobe Region: The western، northern، and central areas will experience rain and thunderstorms، with heavier rain possible in the north. Fog is expected in the north and center overnight and in the morning.
• Zhetysu Region: Residents should prepare for rain، thunderstorms، and in mountainous areas، heavy rain، hail، and strong winds. The fire risk is high.
• Abai Region: Rain and thunderstorms are expected overnight and in the south during the day. Fog will affect the central areas.
• East Kazakhstan Region: Overnight will bring rain and thunderstorms، with heavy rain in the north and east. The southeast faces a high fire risk.
• Turkistan Region: Mountainous areas will experience rain، thunderstorms، and strong winds overnight and in the morning.
• Atyrau Region: Rain، thunderstorms، and strong winds are expected in the northwest and east during the day.
• Kostanay Region: Overnight will see rain and thunderstorms in the north and east. The west and north will experience rain، thunderstorms، and hail during the day.
• Zhambyl Region: Mountainous areas can expect rain and thunderstorms، with hail during the day. Fog is also forecast overnight and in the morning.
• Kyzylorda Region: A dusty storm is predicted for the northern part of the region during the day.
