Kazakhstan's Alatau City Poised for Explosive Growth، Aiming for 2 Million Residents by 2050

Kazakhstan is set to welcome a new megacity as President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has unveiled ambitious development plans for Alatau. Projections indicate that by the year 2050، the city's population could surge to over two million residents، necessitating significant advancements in social and tourism infrastructure.

Boosting Investment and Tourism

President Tokayev highlighted the critical role of tourism in attracting investment to Alatau. While acknowledging current shortcomings in the sector، the city's master plan forecasts a dramatic population increase to over two million by 2050. This anticipated growth will place considerable strain on existing engineering networks and social infrastructure، requiring strategic planning and development.

Creating an Investor-Friendly Environment

To facilitate this expansion، President Tokayev has tasked the Alatau development council and the city administration with establishing clear and transparent regulations for attracting investment. These rules must outline specific mechanisms، timelines، and a fair distribution of responsibilities and risks. The President stressed that creating the most favorable conditions for investors is a paramount objective.

He further emphasized the need to build a sustainable ecosystem that ensures high-quality organization of development processes and scales up investment inflows. This strategic approach aims to position Alatau as a major hub، capable of supporting a rapidly growing and diverse population.
