New $130 Million Logistics Hub to Boost Trade in Uralsk، Kazakhstan

A groundbreaking ceremony has marked the commencement of construction for a major Eurasian industrial and logistics hub in Uralsk، Kazakhstan. This ambitious project، with a total investment of $130 million، is poised to significantly enhance the region's economic landscape and its role in international trade.

Strategic Location and Investment Growth

The initiative aligns with the President's directive to develop key economic sectors and attract investors by creating modern industrial infrastructure. Regional officials highlighted West Kazakhstan's strategic position as a gateway to the country، boasting substantial investment potential. Between 2023 and 2025، approximately 2.3 trillion tenge was invested in fixed capital، with a notable 22.4% increase in the first quarter of 2026، reaching over 135 billion tenge. This growth reflects strong business confidence in the region's economy. In the last three years، the region has attracted over $4.9 billion in foreign direct investment، leading among Kazakhstan's regions.

International Partnership and Production Capacity

Zhang Nan، Deputy Consul General of China in Aktobe، emphasized that this project will invigorate bilateral relations and industrial cooperation between Kazakhstan and China. The new hub will be developed on a 20-hectare site in Uralsk. The $130 million investment will fund facilities including a steel structure production plant with a capacity of up to 30،000 tons per year، a construction formwork plant capable of producing 60،000 units annually، and a cable manufacturing enterprise producing 250،000 coils of BV-type cable per year. Operations are slated to begin by the end of 2026، creating 510 permanent jobs.

Enhancing International Trade and Connectivity

A key component of the hub will be an open-type Class A customs warehouse، designed for storing and processing goods from third parties، including Chinese e-commerce companies، Russian traders، and European freight forwarders. Local authorities believe this will streamline logistics and boost international trade in the region. The project aims to establish a primary holding platform for a Eurasian industrial synergy corridor، connecting China، Central Asia، Russia، Eastern Europe، and the European Union. Uralsk's strategic location at the crossroads of international transport routes provides significant potential for developing a modern industrial-logistics center with direct access to markets in the EAEU countries.
