A Joke with Fatal Consequences
According to The New York Post، five teenagers visited Hughes' home with the intention of playing a prank. They threw toilet paper into his yard، a seemingly harmless joke. However، when Hughes emerged from his house to confront them، the situation escalated.
As the teenagers attempted to flee the scene in their vehicles، Hughes reportedly tripped and fell into the road. Tragically، one of the vehicles struck him. The students provided initial aid until emergency services arrived.
Students Arrested and Charged
Hughes was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and passed away the following day due to cardiac arrest. The teenagers involved have been apprehended and face multiple charges، including trespassing on private property. One of the individuals has since been released on a $1،950 bail.
A Family Left Behind
Jason Hughes is survived by his wife، who also teaches mathematics، and their two children. The incident has left a profound void in the lives of his family and the school community.
