Putin: 'Thank God It's Over' - First Words After Ukraine Peace Deal
Russian President Vladimir Putin has revealed what he believes should be the first words spoken upon achieving a peace agreement with Ukraine، emphasizing a sentiment of profound relief and gratitude.
Readiness for a Peace Deal
Putin made these remarks during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. He suggested that if Kyiv were to agree to the terms discussed in Ankara، a swift resolution to the conflict would be possible. Moscow، he indicated، is prepared to compromise on certain demands in such a scenario.
"Russia agrees with the compromises discussed in Ankara،" stated Vladimir Putin.
First Words in Peacetime
The Russian President elaborated on his vision for the immediate aftermath of peace، highlighting the importance of expressing gratitude. He believes that once the conflict concludes، the primary sentiment should be one of thankfulness.
"If the conflict ends، what we can say to each other is، at the very least، we can and should say، 'Thank God it's over،'" the Russian leader commented.
Zelenskyy's Open Letter
The Kremlin confirmed awareness of an open letter sent by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the Russian head of state. Dmitry Peskov، Putin's press secretary، addressed the situation.
"Yes، we saw it. He published the letter while the President was at an event،" Peskov said.
