Police in the Akmola region of Kazakhstan have apprehended a Russian national who was the subject of an international manhunt. The individual had fled Russia after being involved in a serious traffic incident.

Wanted in Russia

The Russian citizen had been sought by law enforcement agencies in the Russian Federation since October 2024. Investigations revealed that the suspect was driving under the influence of alcohol when he caused a road traffic accident on Russian territory. A criminal case was initiated concerning this incident.

Escape and Capture

Following the initiation of the criminal proceedings، the suspect evaded authorities and fled to Kazakhstan. The Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Sverdlovsk region subsequently issued an international wanted notice for him. Kazakhstani authorities have now taken him into custody. Necessary investigative actions are currently underway regarding this case.
