Residents in the southern regions of Kazakhstan experienced tremors on the evening of April 3rd، following an earthquake that originated in Afghanistan. The seismic network of the Ministry of Emergency Situations confirmed the event.

The earthquake was registered at 21:13 Astana time. Its epicenter was located 853 kilometers southwest of Almaty.

Impact in Kazakhstan

The seismic activity registered a sensitivity of 2 points in several settlements within the Turkistan and Zhambyl regions. Weak tremors were reported in numerous cities، including Shymkent، Taraz، Turkistan، Myrzakent، Zhetisai، Saryagash، Shardara، Kazygurt، Lenger، Mankent، Aksukent، Arys، Temirlan، Sarykemer، Merki، Karatau، Zhanatas، Kentau، Kordai، Sholakقorgan، and others.

As of now، there have been no reports of casualties or significant damage to infrastructure.
