Speed Limits Reduced on Key Roads Leading Out of Astana Due to Weather

Drivers heading out of Astana will now need to slow down on two major highways. The speed limit has been reduced due to deteriorating weather conditions in the Akmola region، according to the Akmola Regional Department of Emergency Situations.

Speed Limit Adjustments

As of 08:30 on March 7th، the maximum allowed speed on certain sections of roads within the Akmola region has been lowered from 140 km/h to 110 km/h. This change، reported by KazAvtoZhol National Company، is a direct response to adverse weather، including snow، blizzards، icy conditions، and poor visibility.

Affected Road Sections

The speed reduction applies to all types of vehicles on the following national importance highways:

Road Closure Information

In addition to the speed limit reduction، authorities have also announced a complete closure of a specific road section due to the severe weather. Starting from 10:30، traffic for all vehicle types is prohibited on the Astana - Atbassar - Zhaksy - Ruzaevka - Sarykol - Kostanay - Russian Federation border highway، specifically between kilometers 407 and 346. The closure also affects the section from the North Kazakhstan region border to the village of Zhaksy (61 km).

Drivers are advised to exercise caution and adhere to the new speed limits and any closure notices to ensure safety on the roads.
