Three Men Sentenced for Kidnapping and Forcibly Hospitalizing Woman in Turkistan
A court in Turkistan has issued a verdict in the case of three men who forcibly admitted a woman into a psychiatric hospital. The primary organizer and his accomplices have received lengthy prison sentences for their roles in the abduction and illegal confinement.
Forcible Hospitalization and Kidnapping
The incident، which began as a domestic dispute، escalated into a criminal case involving kidnapping. According to the investigation، on March 9، 2024، Dilmurod Ibrogimov، along with his two associates Furkat Yusupov and Daniyor Mamurov، forcibly abducted his common-law wife، Maira (name changed for ethical reasons)، from Turkistan.
The woman was bound with tape، placed in the back seat of a car، and taken to the Regional Center for Mental Health in Shymkent. There، Ibrogimov misrepresented her condition، presenting her as a mentally ill individual and submitting a request for involuntary treatment. He even provided fabricated medical reports to the doctors and signed documents on her behalf، falsely indicating her voluntary consent to treatment.
Unlawful Confinement and Medical Examination
As a result، Maira was held in the psychiatric facility from the evening of March 9، 2024، until the morning of March 12، spending nearly three days under forced treatment. A subsequent comprehensive forensic psychological-psychiatric examination determined that the woman was mentally sound، exhibited no abnormalities، and did not require involuntary treatment.
Court Verdict and Sentencing
The court classified the actions as kidnapping by a group of individuals who had conspired in advance، along with the illegal placement in a psychiatric facility. Two individuals were charged with aiding and abetting the crime.
The court ordered the immediate detention of all three men، who had been under house arrest prior to the verdict. Additionally، the court mandated compensation for moral damages to the victim: 5 million tenge from Dilmurod Ibrogimov، and 3 million tenge each from Yusupov and Mamurov، totaling 11 million tenge.
Additional Charges: Illegal Firearms Possession
A separate part of the case involved illegal firearms possession. The court found that Ibrogimov had illegally stored 16 rounds of ammunition for a 9mm Makarov pistol at his residence. Forensic analysis confirmed that the confiscated ammunition was factory-made and in working condition. This fact was added to the charges، influencing the final sentencing.
