UAE Fully Reopens Airspace After Tensions Ease
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced the complete lifting of temporary safety measures that were put in place following the outbreak of conflict between the United States and Iran. This significant decision was made on May 2nd، signaling a return to normalcy for air travel in the region.
Ensuring Air Safety
UAE authorities stated that the airspace is being kept under "constant monitoring." This move comes after a thorough assessment of the operational landscape and the prevailing security situation. According to the Civil Aviation Authority، the airspace will be continuously observed to guarantee the highest level of flight safety.
The Authority expressed gratitude to passengers and airlines for their cooperation during the period of precautionary measures and affirmed their readiness to respond swiftly to any changes.
Previous Situation and Impact
The conflict between Iran and the US in February led to disruptions in aviation across the Middle East and beyond. At that time، several countries، including Israel، Iran، Iraq، Jordan، Bahrain، Kuwait، Qatar، and the UAE، partially or fully closed their airspace. Major airports in Dubai، Abu Dhabi، and Doha ceased operations، causing delays or cancellations for tens of thousands of travelers.
During that period، dozens of Kazakh citizens were unable to fly from Dubai due to the closure of airspace over Middle Eastern countries. Kazakhstan organized special flights to evacuate its citizens، with a total of 10،275 Kazakh nationals returning to their home country.
