Ukraine Presidential Aide Freed on Bail Amid Money Laundering Probe
Andriy Yermak، the former head of the Office of the President of Ukraine، has been released from pre-trial detention after posting a significant bail. The High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine set the bail amount at 140 million hryvnias، approximately $3.16 million USD.
Details of the Bail Payment
According to reports، the bail sum was transferred through 200 separate payments، with some individual transactions as small as one kopeck. Notably، Serhiy Rebrov، the former coach of the Ukrainian national football team، contributed 30 million hryvnias towards Yermak's bail.
The Investigation
Yermak was initially detained on May 14th on suspicion of money laundering and misappropriation of state property. While the court ordered his detention for two months، it allowed for his release upon payment of the 140 million hryvnia bail.
The former presidential aide had stated that he did not possess the full bail amount himself and would rely on contributions from acquaintances and friends to meet the requirement. The investigation alleges Yermak's involvement with a group suspected of laundering over 460 million hryvnias through elite construction projects in the Kyiv region. However، Andriy Yermak denies all charges against him.
Previous Role
Andriy Yermak served as the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine from 2020 to 2025. He was dismissed from his post in November 2025، following which searches were conducted at his residence.
