Ukraine Urges Russia to Extend Easter Ceasefire Beyond Holiday
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has urged Russia to continue its ceasefire beyond the Easter holiday، a proposal Kyiv has made on multiple occasions. The president stated that if Russia violates the truce، Ukrainian forces are prepared to respond decisively.
A Call for Peace
In a statement released via his Telegram channel، Zelenskyy emphasized that Russia's choice between peace and continued conflict would once again reveal its true intentions to the world، including the United States.
"Ukraine has made this proposal several times before. Of course، it would be good if this were to happen. Easter should be a time of security and peace. It would be right to continue the ceasefire. We have made this proposal to Russia،" Zelenskyy stated.
Mirror Response Assured
The Ukrainian leader reiterated that Russia's decision to pursue war instead of peace would clearly demonstrate its objectives to the global community and the U.S.
He also reaffirmed that "Ukraine will respond with a mirror response." This comes after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a "Easter truce" that was set to last for 1.5 days، from 16:00 Moscow time on April 11th until the end of April 12th.
Previously، President Zelenskyy had indicated that Ukraine would respond to Putin's announced "Easter truce" with "mirror steps."
