United Airlines Bans Passengers from Playing Music Without Headphones
United Airlines، a major U.S. carrier، has implemented new rules aimed at reducing passenger conflicts and improving the in-flight experience. The airline will now strictly enforce a policy against playing music or videos without headphones.
Stricter Enforcement on In-Flight Entertainment
The updated terms of carriage now state that passengers found playing audio or video content without headphones may be removed from the flight. Furthermore، repeat offenders could face a lifetime ban from flying with the airline.
New Rule Added to Carriage Terms
This new regulation has been added as rule 21 to United Airlines' conditions of carriage. The airline reserves the right to remove a passenger from a flight or place them on a permanent no-fly list for various reasons. These include non-payment of fare، lack of identification، behavior that poses a safety risk، and even being in the ninth month of pregnancy.
Addressing Passenger Annoyances
The decision to enforce this rule stems from passenger feedback. Surveys indicate that playing music or videos without headphones is a significant source of annoyance for many travelers. One international study revealed that approximately 59 percent of respondents consider this behavior one of the most unpleasant aspects of air travel.
This type of disruption is considered by some passengers to be as bothersome as reclining seats or noisy children over the age of four.
