Kazakhstan's 'Sergek' AI Cameras May Soon Detect Aggressive Behavior
Kazakhstan is exploring a significant upgrade to its 'Sergek' intelligent video surveillance system, potentially equipping it to detect aggressive behavior in public spaces. This initiative aims to move beyond traffic violations and address public order concerns more broadly.
The proposal was put forth by Member of Parliament Bekzhan Kudaybergenov, who highlighted a perceived surge in rudeness and aggression within society. He expressed concern that such behavior is becoming normalized and stressed the need for state-level intervention to curb it.
Expanding 'Sergek' Capabilities
Kudaybergenov suggested that the 'Sergek' system, already in place for monitoring traffic offenses, could be leveraged to bolster public order. His proposal involves integrating new algorithms capable of automatically identifying signs of aggressive conduct.
The lawmaker believes these technological enhancements should be part of a comprehensive strategy to prevent offenses and reduce instances of domestic aggression. The aim is to create a safer and more respectful public environment through advanced surveillance technology.
This potential expansion of the 'Sergek' system underscores a growing trend in using artificial intelligence for public safety and behavioral monitoring.
