Major reconstruction efforts are underway on the Aktobe-Karabutak-Ulgaysyn highway، a crucial segment of the international Samara-Shymkent transport corridor in the Aktobe region. The project aims to significantly improve road infrastructure and connectivity.

Akmola region Governor Askar Shakhanov recently inspected the progress of the roadworks in the Khromtau district. The upgrade focuses on the section of the Aktobe-Khromtau highway from the 791st to the 819th kilometer.

Ongoing Road Construction

The reconstruction is being carried out by the contractor "SP Sine Midas Stroy" LLP. Following the completion of the first phase last year، the section was opened for technical use. Currently، work is progressing on the opposite side of the road، with the lower layer of the road surface being laid. To date، work has been completed on 17 out of the 28 kilometers of this phase، with full completion planned for the summer months.

Scope of Work

The ongoing activities include earthworks، installation of drainage pipes، preparation for fences and snow protection barriers، and the construction of drainage ditches. Essential work on two bridges and two overpasses has been finalized، and traffic has been opened. Additionally، underpasses for livestock have been constructed.

According to the contractor، the modernization project has mobilized 349 units of special equipment and 436 workers. All necessary construction materials، including crushed stone، bitumen، and reinforced concrete products، are fully supplied.

Project Significance

The overall project to modernize the 262-kilometer Aktobe-Karabutak-Ulgaysyn highway is divided into seven sections and is scheduled for completion between 2024 and 2028. This year، work is also set to commence on the Irgyz section.

Governor Shakhanov emphasized the strategic importance of the project for the region، urging the contractor to maintain high-quality standards while accelerating the pace of work. He noted the anticipation of the region's residents for a modern and safe highway، highlighting the project's role in enhancing road safety، improving transport links، and creating favorable conditions for both local and transit traffic.

The governor stressed the availability of all necessary resources and the importance of efficient organization of production processes to ensure the quality of the work.
