Almaty is on high alert as municipal services have been placed on enhanced readiness to tackle the anticipated heavy rainfall over the next two days. The city is bracing for significant downpours، thunderstorms، and strong winds، prompting a proactive response from city authorities.

Weather Forecast Details

According to meteorological forecasts، Tuesday، April 16th، will see cloudy skies in Almaty. Starting from 4:00 PM، residents can expect heavy rain، with accumulations of up to 17 millimeters، accompanied by thunderstorms and winds reaching speeds of 15-18 meters per second. Daytime temperatures are expected to hover between +17°C and +19°C.

The following day، April 17th، will continue the wet weather. From 11:00 AM until the end of the day، another 12 millimeters of heavy rain is forecast، along with thunderstorms and gusts of wind up to 18 meters per second. Overnight temperatures will drop to between +8°C and +10°C، while daytime temperatures will range from +11°C to +13°C.

Municipal Services Mobilized

In response to the weather warnings، the Department for Urban Infrastructure Management and Housing Inspection has announced that employees from the "Almaty Tazaalyk" Municipal State Enterprise and contracted organizations will be on duty around the clock. To ensure swift action، a fleet of 104 special vehicles، 74 motor pumps، and 12 vacuum trucks have been deployed. Nine of these units are strategically positioned in areas prone to flooding.

Furthermore، 75 rapid response teams، comprising 425 road workers، have been formed. To combat potential waterlogging، 2،300 sandbags have been prepared. The total daily workforce for road services amounts to 2،710 personnel.

The Almaty City Rescue Service is also on standby، equipped with 15 motor pumps and one vacuum truck. The Department of Emergency Situations has mobilized 53 units of equipment and 240 personnel to support relief efforts.

This comprehensive mobilization aims to mitigate the impact of the heavy rainfall and ensure the safety and well-being of Almaty residents.
