Almaty has seen a significant crackdown on traffic violations، with a large-scale operation resulting in over 2،000 vehicles being sent to impound lots. The two-day "Stop-Violation" initiative، launched on April 1st، aimed to address serious breaches of road safety rules.

Extensive Violations Identified

During the operation، authorities recorded a staggering 4،828 traffic violations. Special attention was given to offenses that pose a direct threat to road safety. This included 44 individuals caught driving without a license and 8 drivers operating vehicles despite having their licenses previously revoked.

Combating Serious Offenses

Further violations uncovered during the crackdown involved 8 instances of using fake license plates and 15 cases of drivers entering oncoming traffic lanes. These serious offenses put lives at risk، prompting a firm stance from law enforcement.

Reinforcing Road Safety

"We are focusing on stopping serious violations that directly impact road traffic safety. This includes driving without a license or after revocation، entering oncoming lanes، and using fake plates. Such situations pose a real threat to people's lives and health، so our position remains principled and strict،" stated Abdinur Tasybayev، head of the administrative police department of the Almaty City Police Department.

Cross-Regional Enforcement

The operation saw participation from police crews across various regions of Kazakhstan، including Astana، Akmola، Karaganda، and Zhambyl regions. These additional forces were mobilized to enhance control over order and safety on the roads. In the first 24 hours alone، Almaty police identified over 2،200 violations.

This intensified enforcement follows a series of concerning incidents، including a high-profile fatal crash on March 21st in Almaty where three people died. Investigations into the illegal issuance of license plates also led to criminal cases and the dismissal of several officials.

This extensive operation underscores the city's commitment to improving road safety by targeting dangerous driving behaviors and ensuring accountability for violations.
