Armenia Faces Ouster from CSTO Over Western Ties، Russia Warns

Armenia's position within the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is under scrutiny، with the possibility of expulsion looming if Yerevan continues to strengthen ties with Western countries. This situation highlights the delicate geopolitical balancing act faced by the nation.

Russia's Concerns Voiced

Mikhail Galuzin، Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister، acknowledged that Armenia remains a full member of the CSTO. However، he emphasized that Moscow، alongside other allies، is carefully observing Yerevan's interactions with Western nations. Galuzin stated that while Armenia's exclusion from the alliance is not being considered، its steps in engaging with the West are being continuously monitored for compliance with CSTO commitments.

Armenia's Stance within the Organization

This development follows earlier remarks by Alen Simonyan، the Speaker of the Armenian Parliament. Simonyan had previously indicated that the republic was not actively participating in the CSTO's work، responding to questions about whether Armenia was still signing documents adopted by the organization.

This situation underscores the complex relationships within the CSTO and the potential repercussions for member states pursuing independent foreign policy directions.
