Kazakhstan's two major cities are set for a dramatic weather divergence. While Astana is preparing for a significant cold snap with temperatures plummeting to -27 degrees Celsius، Almaty is expected to experience a noticeable spring-like warmth، reaching up to +10 degrees Celsius.

Astana's Deep Freeze Forecast

On February 11th، Astana will see variable cloudiness with snow expected overnight and in the morning. Drivers are advised to be prepared for icy conditions and blizzards. Fog is also anticipated during the night and early morning hours. The wind will blow from the southwest at 9-14 m/s، with gusts reaching 15-20 m/s، and occasionally up to 23 m/s. Overnight and daytime temperatures will hover around -13 to -15 degrees Celsius، with temperatures dropping further after sunset.

February 12th will remain mostly dry with variable cloudiness. The southwest wind will decrease to 5-10 m/s. Nighttime temperatures are predicted to drop to -23 to -25 degrees Celsius، with daytime temperatures reaching -17 to -19 degrees Celsius.

The weather pattern is expected to remain largely unchanged on February 13th. The wind will shift to the southeast at 2-7 m/s. Overnight frosts will intensify to -25 to -27 degrees Celsius، while daytime temperatures will remain around -13 to -15 degrees Celsius.

Almaty's Spring Thaw

In contrast، Almaty will experience variable cloudiness on February 11th، with precipitation in the form of rain and snow expected during the day. Light fog is anticipated by evening. The southeast wind will shift to the northwest، blowing at a speed of 3-8 m/s. Overnight temperatures will be mild، ranging from 0 to 2 degrees Celsius، while daytime temperatures will climb to +8 to +10 degrees Celsius.

For February 12th and 13th، Almaty will continue to see variable cloudiness، with mixed rain and snow، fog، and icy patches on the roads. The northwest wind will blow at 3-8 m/s. Nighttime temperatures will range from -3 to -5 degrees Celsius، with daytime temperatures reaching 0 to 2 degrees Celsius.

This significant temperature difference comes after earlier forecasts warned of heavy precipitation across much of Kazakhstan، followed by an anticyclone bringing severe frosts، with temperatures potentially dropping to -30 degrees Celsius in some regions.
