The "Zhibek Zholy" station on Astana's Light Rail Transit (LRT) line has officially opened its doors to passengers. Previously inaccessible due to a lack of connecting routes، the station remained closed since the LRT's inauguration. Currently، only one entrance and exit point is operational at the "Zhibek Zholy" station. A second exit is expected to open at a later date. The immediate vicinity of the station features a new residential building and several private homes. Future plans indicate the potential redevelopment of the private sector area into new housing complexes.

Station Environment and Potential Growth

The station is currently quiet with few passengers. However، as the surrounding district is developed and construction activities intensify، the station's role and passenger traffic are expected to increase significantly.

Further improvements are planned، including a direct route from Kaldyakoev Street that will pass under the station، making it even more convenient for future residents of the area.

LRT Network Context

This development follows recent news that the LRT line's name is set to change to "Tarlan - Astana،" a decision made during a city council meeting. The Onomastics Commission had previously proposed giving the LRT a name with cultural significance.

LRT Service Commencement

The Astana LRT officially began its operations on May 16، with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev inaugurating the service. Within two weeks of its launch، the city's mayor، Zhenis Kassymbek، reported that approximately one million passengers had used the new transport system.
