Child Enters Rabbit Enclosure at Shymkent Zoo، Sparking Safety Concerns

A concerning incident unfolded at the Shymkent Zoo when a young child gained access to a specially designated rabbit enclosure. Video footage captured the child chasing and startling the animals، even attempting to take photos with them، actions that can cause significant stress and disruption to the wildlife.

Zoo officials reported that the child's mother reportedly assisted in facilitating the entry into the enclosure. Following the incident، security personnel reviewed surveillance footage to identify the visitors involved. The parents were subsequently engaged in a discussion with zoo administration، where they were reminded of the zoo's regulations and the importance of treating animals with care.

Enforcement of Zoo Rules

Despite the presence of clear warning signs prohibiting entry into animal enclosures، these regulations were disregarded in this instance. The Shymkent Zoo administration emphasized that zoos are not merely entertainment venues but are intended as habitats for animals. They stressed that every visitor bears responsibility for adhering to the established rules.

Ensuring Visitor and Animal Safety

The zoo urged all visitors to maintain close supervision of their children and to prevent them from wandering unsupervised. A reminder was issued that entering enclosures is strictly forbidden and that particular attention must be paid to ensuring the safety of children.

This event marks the second notable incident of visitor misconduct at Kazakhstan's zoos in recent months. Previously، in Semey، adults were observed throwing stones at a lion enclosure in the presence of children.
