Kazakh Man Fined for Disrespecting National Emblem Found in Trash
A man in Kazakhstan has been fined for disrespecting the national emblem، sparking public outcry after it was reported he was penalized for finding and restoring the emblem from a landfill.
The incident involved Daniyar Beiskali، a resident of Zhensugirov village in the Jetisu region. Initial reports suggested he was fined 50 MCI (approximately 216،250 tenge) for finding a damaged national emblem in a garbage dump in 2022، repairing it، and displaying it in his home.
Public Outrage and Official Clarification
The news quickly went viral، leading to widespread public anger and questions about why someone who saved and restored a national symbol would be punished. The situation even reached the parliament، with a deputy questioning the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs.
The Deputy Minister confirmed that Beiskali was brought to administrative responsibility by a court decision.
The Real Reason for the Fine
However، the Jetisu Regional Police Department later issued a clarification، stating that the initial information was misleading. The police emphasized that Beiskali was not fined for finding or restoring the emblem.
According to the police، after finding the national emblem، Beiskali engaged in actions that demonstrated disrespect towards it. These actions included taking provocative photos with the emblem in a distorted state and publishing images that showed elements of its misuse.
These actions were reviewed by the relevant authorities and deemed a violation of the established procedure for using national symbols، as per Kazakhstan's current legislation. This constitutes disrespect towards the state symbols، leading to legal accountability.
The police department stated that Daniyar Beiskali was held accountable for these specific actions، not for finding the emblem. They urged the public to rely only on verified and official information and assured that their actions were in accordance with the law.
