Kazakh MP Raises Concerns Over Ineffective Education Law Changes

A prominent Member of Parliament in Kazakhstan، Askhat Aimagambetov، has expressed significant concern over a recently adopted legislative norm affecting the education sector. He has publicly stated that the decision represents one of the most ineffective and illogical steps taken within the field.

Concerns Over New Legislation

Aimagambetov highlighted that the bill، which originated in the Senate، underwent multiple discussions in the Majilis (lower house of parliament). During these deliberations، numerous objections and supporting arguments were presented by experts and stakeholders. However، the MP lamented that these crucial insights and reasoned arguments appear to have been disregarded in the final decision.

Impact on Millions of Children

"Today، one of the most ineffective and illogical decisions concerning the education sector was adopted. We discussed the bill from the Senate several times. There was a genuine debate. But without considering the arguments made during that discussion، without listening to the opinions of experts، a decision was silently made that could negatively affect the future of 4 million children،" stated Askhat Aimagambetov.

Shift in Management Authority

The core of the issue، according to Aimagambetov، lies in the decision to transfer management authority concerning schools and kindergartens. The authority is being shifted from regional governors (akimats) to district-level administrators (akimats).

This move has raised questions about the effectiveness and potential consequences for the decentralized management of educational institutions across the country.
