Kazakhstan Extends Validity of Old 10،000 Tenge Banknotes Until Mid-2027

The National Bank of Kazakhstan has extended the circulation period for older 10،000 tenge banknotes. These notes will now be accepted for transactions until June 2027، providing an additional year of validity.

This decision was made following a recommendation from the Association of Financiers of Kazakhstan. The extension allows for a smoother transition as new banknote series are introduced.

New Banknote Series Introduction

The National Bank is continuing its phased release of a new banknote series، themed "Saka Style." This process involves a mechanism to gradually replace older notes with the new designs.

Even after the extended circulation period ends، citizens will have a three-year window to exchange the old 10،000 tenge notes for new ones at all commercial banks and Kazpost branches. The National Bank's branches will offer indefinite exchange services for these older notes.

Legal Tender Status

It is important to note that both the new and old series of 10،000 tenge banknotes remain legal tender throughout Kazakhstan. They are required to be accepted at their face value for all types of payments، transfers، and bank account deposits across the country.

Previously، there were plans to extend the validity of these older notes by one year، a detail shared by National Bank Chairman Timur Suleimenov in a prior interview with journalists.
