Kyrgyzstan MP، Relative of Ex-Security Chief، Summoned for Questioning Amid Political Shifts
Shaırbek Tashiev، a Member of Parliament and brother of former head of Kyrgyzstan's State Committee for National Security (SCNS)، Kamchybek Tashiev، has been summoned for questioning. This development is raising concerns amid the country's evolving political landscape.
Local media outlet 24.kg، citing sources، reported that Tashiev is currently being questioned at the main investigative department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. However، the ministry has not yet issued an official statement regarding the matter.
The specific criminal case for which the deputy is being questioned، and his status as a witness or suspect، remain unknown at this time. Sources also indicate that Shaırbek Tashiev was expected to resign his parliamentary seat today، with the Central Election Commission potentially reviewing this matter.
Political Realignment in Kyrgyzstan
This event unfolds against a backdrop of significant political shifts in Kyrgyzstan. In February، President Sadyr Japarov dismissed his close associate and confidant، Kamchybek Tashiev، from all his positions. The official reason provided for this move was to strengthen national unity and prevent societal discord، particularly within state institutions.
Prior to Tashiev's dismissal، reports emerged of individuals close to him contacting MPs، urging them to support the "general" and to initiate new presidential elections. Following Tashiev's resignation، substantial changes occurred within the country's security forces. His deputies were removed from their posts، and the Border Service was separated from the SCNS structure.
A new State Guard Service، reporting directly to the president، was established. Additionally، Parliament Speaker Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu resigned his authority. Nurghazy Matysakov، Tashiev's nephew and the head of the Transport Prosecutor's Office، was also dismissed. The Minister of Transport and Communications، Absattar Syrgabaev، who local media refer to as Tashiev's "stepson،" was also removed from his post.
