Kyrgyzstan to Provide Monthly Child Benefit to All Under-3s
Kyrgyzstan is set to implement a significant new social support measure، providing a monthly state allowance for all children under the age of three. This initiative aims to bolster support for young families during a critical period of child development.
Introducing the 'Balا ىرىسى' Benefit
President Sadyr Japarov signed a decree establishing this new social payment، named 'Balا ىرىسى' (meaning 'Child's Fortune')، just before International Women's Day. According to the President's official website، the new benefit will commence on July 1، 2026.
Benefit Amount and Eligibility
Under the new system، the allowance will be provided to every child، irrespective of their family's income level. The monthly payment is set at 1200 Kyrgyzstani soms، which is approximately equivalent to 6780 Kazakhstani tenge.
Presidential Initiative for Family Support
President Japarov stated that this decision was made in response to numerous requests from citizens. He emphasized that the early years of a child's life are crucial for their physical and intellectual development، and the state has decided to enhance support for families during this time.
The President also acknowledged existing complaints about the current benefits system، noting that many mothers face complex bureaucratic procedures when applying for social payments. He conceded that some affluent families might also receive this benefit، but stressed the importance that no child in need is left without assistance.
Scope of the New Program
Data from the National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan indicates that there are approximately 445،000 children under the age of three in the country. The new 'Balا ىرىسى' benefit is being introduced as a universal social support for all children within this age group.
This initiative reflects a commitment to strengthening social safety nets and ensuring that all young children have access to essential support during their formative years.
