Renowned Kazakh folk artist Makpal Zhunusova recently experienced an unexpected situation at the airport concerning her dombyra، a traditional stringed instrument. The incident occurred as she was preparing to fly to Kostanay.

Airport Dispute Over Instrument

According to Zhunusova، airport staff informed her that an additional fee would be required to take her dombyra on board the flight. This requirement led to a brief misunderstanding between the artist and the airport personnel.

"We arrived at the airport. The shouting and fuss started again. Another girl came and insisted، 'You can't take the dombyra.' They said you have to pay extra for this too. I thought the deputies had resolved this، but who knows؟" Zhunusova expressed her frustration.

Unexpected Resolution and Reduced Fee

Although initially displeased with the demand، the singer eventually reached an agreement with the airport staff. She paid 5،000 tenge for her dombyra، noting that this amount was considerably less than previous charges.

"Our nerves settled down. They charged five thousand tenge for the dombyra. It was cheap this time. Last time، I paid 65،000 tenge for a hat and a dombyra ticket. This time it was very affordable،" the People's Artist remarked with a laugh.

Concert Plans in Kostanay

Zhunusova highlighted that the primary purpose of her trip was to meet with audiences in Kostanay and extended her greetings to the city's residents. She promised to deliver a memorable performance with beautiful songs، aiming to uplift her listeners.

Makpal Zhunusova is a celebrated figure in Kazakh pop music، recognized for her numerous international competition wins and prestigious titles، including Honored Artist and People's Artist of Kazakhstan. She is widely known as the "Prima Donna" of Kazakh pop and the "Nightingale of Central Asia."
