Parents Seek Justice After 8-Year-Old Boy Dies from Severe Burns in Oral

A devastating incident has shaken the city of Oral، where an 8-year-old boy named Artem succumbed to severe burns sustained in a yard. The tragic event، which occurred on August 10، 2025، has left his parents seeking justice and questioning the thoroughness of the investigation.

A Day of Play Turns Tragic

Artem was spending his summer holidays at his grandmother's house and had gone out to play with friends. Hours later، he was brought home with critical burn injuries. His mother، Mukhabbat Pardaeva، recounted that Artem، though conscious، struggled to explain what had happened، repeatedly stating that someone had tried to kill him.

Devastating Injuries and a Father's Plea

Medical professionals determined that 96 percent of the boy's body was burned. Despite their efforts، Artem tragically passed away due to his injuries. The criminal case was reportedly closed in February 2026. Mukhabbat Pardaeva claims her family was forced to gather crucial evidence themselves، including security footage from schools and shops. However، they discovered that surveillance systems in apartment building entrances only retain recordings for seven days، meaning vital video evidence may have been lost before investigators could secure it.

"It felt like no one was actually working on this case،" Pardaeva stated. "We were only shown isolated clips، and the footage capturing the most critical moments was not preserved. I don't believe the investigation was conducted properly."

Allegations and Official Response

The family suspects that minors may have been involved in the incident، but no one has been held accountable. After exhausting all legal avenues، the boy's father released a video appeal on social media، asking for public assistance in identifying those responsible. Subsequently، complaints were filed against him، forcing the family to seek legal counsel.

"In the end، it felt like everything was turned against us. We had to prove that my husband wasn't threatening anyone،" the mother added.

Currently، Artem's parents visit Oral primarily to pay respects at their son's grave. The West Kazakhstan Regional Police Department stated that all necessary examinations for the case have been conducted. According to the department، the criminal case was terminated in accordance with Article 35، Part 1، Clause 2 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan، due to the absence of a criminal offense in the actions.
