Ramzan Kadyrov appoints 20-year-old son as Chechnya deputy PM، retains sports post

Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov has appointed his 20-year-old son، Akhmat Kadyrov، as a deputy prime minister — a swift elevation that underscores the family’s enduring grip on the region’s power structure.

This was reported by the Infohub.kz news agency.

Appointment announced on 6 January

On 6 January، Kadyrov announced on his Telegram channel that Akhmat would take the deputy prime minister post while retaining his current role as Chechnya’s minister of physical culture and sport.

Additional government changes

Ahmed Dudaev، the minister for national policy، external relations، press and information، was appointed acting deputy prime minister، Kadyrov said.

Kadyrov praised both officials for their management experience and sense of responsibility، adding that their work would support the republic’s development.

Family ties and recent context

Members of the Kadyrov family have long held senior positions in Chechnya. Previously، Kadyrov’s eldest daughter، Ayshat Kadyrova، said she would step down as a deputy prime minister، describing the role as one suited for a “strong man.”
