Renowned Kazakh journalist Zhanar Baisemiz has shared intimate details about her personal life، revealing the reasons behind her decision to marry a foreign national at the age of 38. In a candid interview، she discussed her unexpected path to marriage and her family's supportive response.

An Unplanned Union

Baisemiz explained that her marriage to a foreign citizen was not a pre-planned event but rather a turn of fate. "I didn't intentionally plan to marry a foreign citizen. Fate wrote it this way. This was my choice. Otherwise، I too dreamed of marrying a Kazakh man،" she stated.

Family's Full Support

When asked about her parents' reaction to her decision، Baisemiz shared that there was no opposition. "No one objected. When I informed my mother، she was initially a little taken aback. But my father immediately supported me and gave his blessing. Although I am the eldest child، I was at an age where I valued myself and could make my own decisions about my personal life. Even at 38، I still looked young،" she recalled.

A Husband of Diverse Heritage

Zhanar Baisemiz's husband is of Italian nationality، with reported Moldovan، Polish، and Ukrainian ancestry. She mentioned that due to his upbringing in Odessa، they often converse in Russian at home. However، he has promised to learn the Kazakh language.

Her father's words، "Nationality doesn't matter، as long as they have good character،" further solidified Zhanar's decision. Additionally، her husband's conversion to Islam brought her great joy.

A Love Story Forged in Atyrau

The couple first met in Atyrau، a city Baisemiz noted they had traveled extensively but fate brought them together. Her husband showed great respect for Kazakh traditions، fulfilling all customs، including the payment of bride price. Baisemiz also shared a warm relationship with her mother-in-law، who welcomed her wholeheartedly.
