Almaty Residents Brace for Four Days of Planned Power Outages

Residents of Almaty and the surrounding region are set to face a series of planned power outages spanning four consecutive days. The disruptions, scheduled to occur between May 4th and May 8th, are necessary for essential maintenance work on the electrical grid.

The 'Alatau Zharyk Kompaniyasy' (AJK), the local electricity distribution company, announced the temporary shutdowns, which will affect various districts across the city and its suburbs. These outages will impact both residential areas and social facilities, including schools and kindergartens.

Maintenance Schedule and Affected Areas

The planned power interruptions are slated to take place daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The maintenance activities are extensive, covering central streets, residential buildings, educational institutions, and other public facilities. A detailed schedule outlining the specific addresses and exact timings of the outages is available on the AJK website for residents to consult.

AJK has urged the public to approach these necessary disruptions with understanding. The company emphasized that the primary goal of this maintenance is to enhance the reliability of the power lines and prevent future failures, ensuring a more stable electricity supply in the long run.

This is not the first time residents have experienced such interruptions this spring; similar maintenance work was conducted in late April across Almaty and its oblast.
