Astana Gears Up for Victory Day: Concerts, Exhibitions, and More Planned
Astana is preparing to host a series of significant events to mark Victory Day on May 9th. The capital city will come alive with concerts, theatrical productions, exhibitions, and patriotic rallies organized across various venues, encompassing cultural, social, and educational spheres.
Events on May 8th
The commemorative activities begin on May 8th. At 11:00 AM, a thematic exhibition dedicated to Victory Day will open at the "Nurly Zhol" railway station. The State Archive of Astana will present a historical and documentary exhibition titled "Epic of Valor," alongside a collection of materials focusing on home front workers.
Later that evening, at 7:00 PM, the State Academic Philharmonic named after E. Rakhmanidyyev will host a celebratory concert, "Epic of Valor." Concurrently, the Gorky State Academic Russian Drama Theatre will stage the play "Aliya."
Victory Day Program on May 9th
The main celebrations on May 9th kick off at 12:00 PM with a festive concert in front of the A. Mambetov State Drama and Comedy Theatre.
Also at 12:00 PM, the city square at 9 Beybitshilik Street will feature a Victory Day concert with performances by popular artists.
In the evening, at 6:00 PM, the theatre stage will host the play "Man of Honor – Bauyrzhan." At the same time, the Young Spectator Musical Theatre will present the play "Manshuk."
Further evening festivities include a celebratory concert at the Amphitheatre starting at 6:00 PM. The Kazakh National Music and Drama Theatre named after Kalibek Kuanyshbayev will present a concert by its symphony orchestra titled "Victory Day."
Social Support for Veterans
In recognition of Victory Day, one-time payments are being provided to veterans. This initiative aligns with the rules for providing social assistance, determining its amounts, and identifying categories of citizens in need, as approved by the Astana City Maslikhat's decision No. 84/10-VIII dated October 3, 2023. For instance, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War in Astana received a payment of 5 million tenge.
