Astana LRT's "Zhibek Zholy" Station Opening Delayed Due to Unoccupied Housing
The "Zhibek Zholy" station on Astana's Light Rail Transit (LRT) system will remain closed for the time being. According to City Transportation Systems (CTS), there is currently no need to open this station for public use.
Reason for Delay: Unoccupied Residential Complexes
CTS explained that while the "Zhibek Zholy" station (number 117) is fully prepared, similar to other stations, construction activities in its vicinity are ongoing. Specifically, the multi-story residential complexes near the station have not yet been commissioned, meaning no residents have moved in. Consequently, opening the station at this stage is deemed unnecessary.
"The station will open once the residential complexes are commissioned and people start moving in. Additionally, landscaping work in the surrounding area is also continuing," stated the company's press service.
This development follows previous reports indicating that other LRT stations in Astana were also not opened due to infrastructure-related issues.
